THE Alton Towers Resort has launched its first ever game based on
new world first ride, The Smiler, coming to the UK's number one theme
park in May 2013.

The game also gives players the opportunity to unlock hidden content
using Augmented Reality technology once they visit the theme park,
including accessing additional images, videos and secret upgrades for

Smiler app brings together several intricate development techniques;
blending gameplay, competitions and augmented reality in a completely

BOUND Round, the new series of travel apps for kids by kids, is set to launch its first destination app: Sydney.
The Bound Round series of interactive travel apps use stories, photos, videos and games and are designed to work on both iOS and Android platforms.
Kids can use the apps to discover - through play - all the fun things to do in their chosen holiday destination - and kill time on the journey there. The app can also be used by kids as an electronic travel journal that allows kids to capture and share their travel adventures and as an invaluable travel planning tool for parents.
The first destination guide, for Sydney, will be launched in December - just in time for school holidays, with other destinations to follow in the New Year.
To ensure that the Bound Round content, and the activities and attractions chosen for each destination are absolutely spot-on, Bound Round is establishing a Kids Board of Directors.
Kids board members are appointed for a 12-month period. The kids will be asked to provide honest feedback on the guide. Board members will also produce a video telling viewers what they love about their home-town which will be included on the app as part of the "Meet a Local Kid" section.
Designed for kids to play with before and during their holiday, there are two versions of Bound Round, for 4 to 7-year olds and 8 to 12-year olds. With Read Alone and Read to Me functionality both versions are suitable for kids at all reading ability levels.
By capturing if a child "had fun" in each Bound Round location, the apps provide parents with feedback from the kids on the activities they really want to do when they get there and then provides information on how to get there, opening hours and even discounts available only to Bound Round customers.
For the 8-12 year old version, when the kids are in a location they can create their own content (photos, drawing, writing/typing) in the "My Passport" section of the app. This section also allows the kids to create an e-postcard and email it directly to friends and family.

The 'app' links with the extensive UK Theatre Web database which lists around 20,000 events and will allow users to search for shows, productions and concerts by area.
Once users have found what they're looking for they will be shown a range of information including cast, tour and venue details as well as accredited STAR (Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers) suppliers offering tickets or the box office telephone number and website link. Once you've seen the show the 'app' also allows you to add star ratings and reviews which can be read by other users.
